Position: Laborer

Reports To: Foreman and/or Superintendent

Educational/Experience Requirements: To perform this job successfully, a qualified applicant must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Qualified applicants will possess at a minimum a GED. Education and/or experience may be substituted as applicable.

General Requirements: Applicants will possess dependable transportation in order that they may report to work in a timely and consistent manner, be able to verbally communicate in English, understand and follow directions given in spoken English as required, have the necessary tools for the position as indicated on the provided pre-hire list and maintain company tools/equipment as appropriate, follow all company policies and procedures in regards to safety and reporting, present and promote themselves and the company in a professional and competent manner. Applicant will perform a variety of tasks under the supervision of an assigned Tradesman, Foreman or Superintendent in order to achieve profitable and quality oriented projects associated with the concrete industry more specifically defined below. Must be able to pass company drug and alcohol screening.

Expectations and Responsibilities:

  1. 1. Has mandatory labor tools and equipment at all times on the jobsite. The pre-hire tool list mentioned above will serve as basic needs for any company field employee and subject to periodic review and modification as such needs change. The needed tools and equipment generally include proper clothing and work boots of the type generally required for construction work; over boots and gloves as appropriate to the work activities undertaken; and small hand-tools generally consisting of the type necessary to assist with layout and construction, i.e., hammers, measuring tapes, speed squares, chalk boxes, etc. Larger hand-tools and specialized equipment, (safety-related and construction-related), will be provided for use, i.e., hardhats, glasses, harnesses and lanyards, shovels, wheel barrows, etc.
  2. 2. Must be able to lift minimum of 75 pounds frequently.
  3. 3. Must learn and understand lumber material definitions.
  4. 4. Must learn concrete accessory and concrete forming accessory hardware definitions and use.
  5. 5. Strip concrete forming systems and remove accessory hardware and nails.
  6. 6. Shovel soils, sub-base materials and concrete.
  7. 7. Remove temporary control and concrete form stakes.
  8. 8. Must be able to properly use hand and power tools including but not limited to hammers with heads ranging from 16 ounces to 12 pounds.
  9. 9. Properly use and maneuver wheel barrows and other jobsite specific equipment.
  10. 10. Properly operate small power equipment including but not limited to compaction rammers, cut-off saws and plate tampers.
  11. 11. Must be able to comprehend and implement proper industry and jobsite specific safety rules and regulations.
