Position: Concrete Foreman

Reports To: General Superintendent

General Requirements:

Applicants will possess dependable transportation in order that they may report to work in a timely and consistent manner, be able to communicate, understand and follow directions as required, have the necessary tools for the position and maintain company tools/equipment as appropriate, follow all company policies and procedures in regards to safety, leave of absence and time reporting, present and promote themselves and the company in a professional and competent manner. Performs a variety of supervisory and managerial functions under the direction of the general superintendent and job specific project manager in order to achieve profitable and quality-oriented projects more specifically defined below. Must be able to pass drug and alcohol screening.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Requires completion of high school and over four years of experience in concrete finishing including experience as an equipment operator; possess an American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Flatwork Technician certification; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Applicants will have leadership qualities in order to promote a professional atmosphere for not only other employees but will act as the daily and on-site point of contact between General Contractors, Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, and Owners in the absence of the Project Superintendent.

Expectations and Responsibilities:

Performs a variety of concrete placement and finishing under the direction of the Finisher Superintendent in order to achieve profitable and quality oriented projects associated with concrete construction industry more specifically defined below:

1. Must have finishing tools listed in possession at all times.

2. Have knowledge of use of all hand tools of the trade.

3. Have knowledge of multi-concrete placement and finishes such as hard trowel, broom etc.

4. Experience in a variety of different screed techniques such as wet screed, screed rails, etc.

5. Knowledge of how to place and finish stairs, curb and gutter and freehand curb.

6. Must be able to operate various types of construction equipment and have experience with power and ride on trowels.

7. Must have experience with vertical and horizontal rubbing and patching.

8. Knowledge and ability to recognize any finish deficiency and appropriate methods to correct such deficiencies.

9. Have experience with colored, stamped, and chemical stained concrete.

10. Be willing to learn and understand concrete admixtures and its environmental impact.

11. Spread, level, smooth, shape and finish freshly placed concrete on a wide variety of structures.

12. Prepares sites for concrete work by leveling or contouring the ground, building and setting concrete forms, cutting and placing reinforcement materials, and similar activities.

13. Reads and interprets plans, blueprints and state and federal specifications; performs the necessary tasks according to required standards for dimensions and finish.

14. Builds and/or repairs sidewalks, curbs, gutters, steps, ramps, drainage structures, support structures and other related types of structures.

15. Cleans work site areas and equipment.

16. Must have management skills that include but not limited to: preparation of time cards, ability to read and understand ready mix concrete receivers, direct a finishing crew in a positive and profitable direction, and be willing to take on and accept responsibility.

17. Directs and instructs lesser skilled workers as assigned.

18. Requires ability to understand oral and written instructions in English.

19. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions, night or day, including extreme heat or cold and under emergency conditions.

20. Must be able to work long shifts and some weekends as required.

21. Must be able to comprehend and implement proper industry and jobsite specific safety rules and regulations.

22. Meet commercial vehicle driver’s license, CDL, and medical card statutory requirements to operate and transport tools and equipment to and from project sites.
